My blood pressure has lowered or returned to normal. Can I stop taking my medications?
Skipping your medication can cause your blood pressure to increase along with your risk of heart attack or stroke. Your doctor will let you know when you no longer need the medication, and they will work with you to change your dosage to reduce any possible side effects.
It can be difficult to remember to take all my medications. How can I create a daily routine that will help me remember?
Try taking your medication at the same time as your other daily activities such as brushing your teeth or feeding your pet. Add alarms on your phone, try pillboxes, or make a list.
I’m experiencing some side effects from my medications. What should I do?
You are not alone; side effects can happen and we are here to support you. If you experience any side effects talk to your doctor or pharmacist. Your doctor may be able to change the dosage, switch to a different medication, or provide helpful tips to manage the side effects.
I was admitted to the hospital recently and was put on some new medications. Do I need to tell my kidney doctor (nephrologist)?
It’s important to let your doctor know of any changes. Please bring your new medications to your doctor and any paperwork from the hospital. Before leaving the hospital make sure you know where to pick up your new medications. Have the pharmacist explain any changes to your medications, including any that you need to stop taking.
